In Matthew, it was said: These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.'
This seems to me like a sign that I should be ministering to Xtians rather than evangelising, and finding new people to evangelise to..or is this too literal a translation?
Hah but the passage in Acts kind of refuted what I said.
In Psalms
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
What a promise!

mat v8 "Freely you have received, freely give."
v19-20 "But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you." This is really reassuring...that I don't need to rely on myself, but God.

acts v10 "Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?" I've been doing this a lot lately...making these endless to-do lists and trying to complete them on my own, without joy. Burdening myself when God's yoke is easy.

Psalm 23 is one of my favorite psalms. "...I shall not be in want...he restores my soul..."

It's been a while since I've done devotions.. thanks joann for reminding me and encouraging me and making me feel slightly guilty about not doing it :]. hehe

anywayy acts 15 is pretty interesting. there are definitely issues that i come across over and over again in my church, and a lot of things i don't agree with. but what i get from this passage is that arguing is not the correct response, rather it is to come together and discuss these issues. i'm hoping to find more of an open and safe space to voice opinions and work through them in my homechurch, rather than have people enforce certain beliefs on others.
i also found the whole circumcision thing really interesting, that God recognizes cultural diversity and that His gospel is not one that is specialized for one particular cultural group.
Psalm 23 is so famous.. i've heard it so many times in different contexts that it's hard for me to feel it with the heart, but i like v5.
