The beatitudes are awesome...I should really memorize them at some point. Persecution came up again..I just hope that I'll remain faithful and glad when that happens..The psalm really spoke to me, especially the description of the prideful wicked man, which is still very much part of me. "He boasts of the cravings of his heart...In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. His ways are always prosperous; he is haughty and your laws are far from him...He says to himself, 'Nothing will shake me; I'll always be happy and never have trouble.'" Verse 15 is my prayer: "Break the arm of the wicked and evil man; call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out." Yes, break me and search me, Lord.

Matthew 5:3-6 says that we are blessed in all that we lack because only when we lack do we go to God to provide. I find that the times when I pray longest, hardest, and most earnestly are times when I am most vulnerable, or most desperate. I am asking God to help me in the many different ways I am inadequate, and hope that even when God begins to fill me up, that I will continue to go to Him for prayer and praise. I need humility, because pride causes us to think that we don't need God. Psalm 10:4 says, The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God.
