Yay , we have two new members and I hope they do post soon. Mun Hong (a friend from Melbourne) and Nikki!
Remember to look at the first post of this blog (archives) and then you can view the bible reading plan. You can choose to start on the same day as me :) despite Exodus being the middle of things etc, but it'll be nice to exchange thoughts OR you can start posting new posts to wherever you'd like to start.

In Matthew, Jesus being rejected at Nazareth makes me think of how often we search for people's background or intellect to justify why/how they got to be where they are. Like 'oh that person is rich, or that person is on scholarship..that's why..mumblegrumble.'Reading Acts is really cool for me at the moment, because I am in Rome and can imagine the reconstructed act in one of these many ruins that you see around the city. Again, the vast gap between those who believe and those who don't are so marked: watching these hordes of secular and non-secular tourists coming in to admire Michalangelo's work in the Sistine just reminds me how every art we produce can really bring glory to His name.
In exodus, it's pretty cool to see how most of the things we do/say now were literal; like the blood of the sacrificed animals which became JC's blood on the cross and for us now, is the communion, also the 'consuming fire' which was witnessed on the Mountain.
WOW. And they SAW GOD. It's really amazing: despite it all, it foreshadows the disobedience of the people later on, what is needed to ensure ultimate conversion and faith?
Oh no, I typed a really long post but it somehow didn't get through. Anyway in a nutshell what really got to me was the Matthew verse describing the Kingdom of heaven both as a pearl and as a treasure. The guy who found the Kingdom of heaven, 1 by chance and 1 by seeking both came out with the same response upon finding it. They both gave it all for that Kingdom of heaven which I guess is something that I have always struggled with. Where the life you live is not for your own but for God and I wonder whether I will ever be a point where all is given.
In Acts it writs about a guy who has deinitely given it all. Paul. And this guy has travelled far and is now in Ephesus giving his life up for God's work, facing persecution etc which somehow is scary and yet something in me wonders what compelled Paul to do that and I am pretty convinced that God definitely did work in his life to bring him to that state of giving it all.
