I admit I dont really understand Matthew and what he meant "when an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places seeking ret, and finds none."Or he could us be prophesying for this "wicked generation" which is dooming.
IN Psalms
"To You I will cry, O Lord my Rock; Do not be silent to me,
Lest if You are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit."
This is so true, if we are far away from God, if we stop having Him guide our way, how easy it is to be led astray and submit to our temptations. Hold tight, my friends!
In Genesis I found so many literal examples of spiritual disciplines tht we hold dear: i.e. tithing 10% probably comes from the manna which God asks to "put an omer (one tenth) of if manna in a pot and lay it up before the Lord to be kept for your generations". The idea of praising God for what He has already given us, and remmebering that He was always our salvation and deliverer should remain in our tithing to Him. Also, I find it almost comical and yet convicting when Joshua fought the battle and won every time Moses had his hand lifted up: ultimately, Moses was human and wearied down a lot, and only with God as well as the help of others, did he succeed in bringing military victory along wtih Joshua's army.
